A career shift and an update to my website

It has been about a year and a bit since I properly updated this website.

A lot has changed since then! I have moved from government research and official statistics into customer research at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, more commonly known as RICS. It is not a career change; I would call it more of a shift.

Before joining RICS, I worked on the Gambling Survey for Great Britain at the Gambling Commission. Prior to that, I spent several years at the Office for National Statistics, working on major economic surveys and operations.

Although I have moved into a different sector, much of the work stays the same: a mix of surveys, interviews, analysis and other research methods, depending on the question. I started describing myself as a methodological magpie, and that definitely still fits.

I have continued to publish and collaborate academically, although I have largely stepped back from social media research. More recently, I was invited to join a working group for the Nature Medicine Commission on Quality Health Information for All, contributing my experience in mixed-methods research and large-scale surveys.

I have now updated my website to better reflect these changes, hopefully with more short articles from all the fun I’ve been having at RICS!
